On Saturday, Januarry 22, 2022 a hybrid Charter Ceremony, Installation of Officers and Initiation of new members for the
Sunset Pilot Club of Grand Bahama was held at the Oceans Blue Restaurant, Freeport, The Bahamas. Club
Charter President Franklyn McCoy received the official club banner and gavel from
2021-2022 Bahamas District Governor Karen Ferguson-Bain. The club started with a legacy of outstanding accomplishments and became the 1st Co-Ed Pilot Club on the island of Grand Bahama for the Bahamas District with President Franklyn McCoy being the 1st male President of a Pilot Club in Grand Bahama. Club members were honoured to be initiated by
ECR Rhona Espinoza and the installing officer was Collett Cross (2021-2022 Pilot International President).The club building Committee included Past District Governors; Jethlyn Burrows (deceased), Sonia Williams, Karen Ferguson-Bain, Toni Bannister as well as Past Presidents of the Pilot CLub of Lucaya, Pilots Cheryl Bartlett and Keira Cox.
The Club is a member of the Bahamas District Pilot International.
Sunset Pilot Club made history during the 100 years of Pilot Centennial Celebrations at the 2022 PI Convention.
Governor Karen Ferguson-Bain and the Bahamas District were recognized and honoured as the only District that achieved the Pilot International challenge and milestone of Trifecta Chartered Clubs (Anchor, Compass & Pilot Clubs).
