Founded in 1921 in Macon, Georgia, Pilot International is a volunteer organization of executive, business and professional leaders working together to improve the quality of life in communities throughout the world by serving those with brain related disorders and disabilities.
Pilot International has a diversified international membership of 25,000 Pilot and Anchor members worldwide. Members can be found internationally in countries including the Bahamas, Argentina, Canada, Japan, Korea, Singapore and the United States.
Since 1974, the Bahamas District have been answering the needs in our country through various worthwhile service projects and fund-raisers, such as: seminars on health, safety, citizenship, and women’s issues; having soup kitchens, visits to senior citizens homes, The WillieMae Pratt Centre, sponsoring students for scholarships and overall volunteering through community service.
All funds derived from our fundraising efforts are returned to our communities to assist in civic activities. A signature event for the Nassau area is the Memories Ball, which kicks off the holiday season. This year, we celebrated at SuperClubs Breezes on November 5th, 2011 and in the Freeport area, it’s the elegant Tea and Fashion show.
Pilot Clubs in the Bahamas also support the Special Olympics, Salvation Army, and Red Cross, among many other community organizations. Soon after many years of planning and fund-raising, the Pilot Club of Nassau will build a swimming pool which will cater to the community of persons with disabilities. Remember those tasty corn dogs at the Annual Red Cross Fair, yes Pilots do that! We have partnered with REACH, to heighten awareness of Autism in the Bahamas and over the years have donated to the Cancer Society, Hurricane relief efforts, the Stapleton School and other charitable causes.
We invite everyone to join us in improving our communities and help us to continue to touch lives, especially those in the Bahamas.
BrainMinders™ is the signature project for Pilot International focused on traumatic brain injury and brain disorders. The project encompasses a public service campaign designed to promote brain awareness; prevention education programs for children and adults; workshop and speakers bureau materials; a partnership with Project Lifesaver, a tracking program; and support for brain-related programs.
If your school wishes to have your students participate in this, please call any Pilot Club or complete the BrainMinders request form.
